LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WAVE) - Rep. Jason Nemes (R-District 33) is considering legislation for the 2026 legislative session that would ban the possession of gun modification devices, commonly called “Glock switches.”

The device is the size of a quarter and can be made with a 3-D printer, which in turn has made them more accessible than ever. LMPD Chief Paul Humphrey said the department has seen a significant increase in the seizure of modified guns in recent years. In 2023, LMPD seized 26 in Jefferson County, while 13 others were seized statewide. That increased to 80 seized in Jefferson County in 2024 and 18 statewide. Year-to-date in 2025, LMPD has seized 37 modified guns.
