Fifteen years after the Glass City Marathon moved out of downtown Toledo to a course based at the University of Toledo, Garmin is bringing its own 26.2-mile road race to a route approximating the old one.

Motorists in Toledo, Rossford, Perrysburg Township, Perrysburg, and Maumee can be forgiven if it looks like a ploy to sell global-positioning units to plot out alternative routes to the roads that will be closed Sunday morning during the race.

The main event will require temporary closings of the Craig Memorial and Fort Meigs Memorial bridges as well as the River Roads on both sides of the Maumee River. The Garmin Half Marathon won’t leave the Toledo city limits but will also affect the Anthony Wayne Bridge.
