One of the key themes of this municipal election campaign has been the need to improve the relationship between city hall and the Alberta legistature. Mayoral hopefuls Rahim Jaffer and Michael Walters have spoken about the need to reset the relationship between council and the United Conservative Party. In last Friday’s Chamber of Commerce debate, Andrew Knack expressed frustration over what he saw as the province’s lack of progress on tackling homelessness.

“How many more sandwiches and coffees do we need to have with the province before they start doing their job?” Knack said in the debate.

But Mayor Amarjeet Sohi said Thursday that the notion of an adversarial relationship between the city and the province is an ongoing myth.
