CLEVELAND — The Ohio Department of Transportation announced Thursday it has approved a permit for the construction of a new Cleveland Browns enclosed stadium in Brook Park near Hopkins International Airport.

The granting of a permit by ODOT comes more than a month after the agency originally denied the request by the Haslam Sports Group amid fears that the proposed height of the new development would be "an obstruction to air navigation."

According to ODOT, the decision give the Browns a permit for their domed stadium came following a "comprehensive review and detailed analysis" by the agency's third-party aviation consultant after additional information was provided by HSG and the city of Cleveland's Department of Port Control.
