NEW PARIS, Ind. (WNDU) - As a part of our “We The People” series, we’re highlighting the story of a local Vietnam war veteran.

Steve Schermerhorn was one of about three million Americans who fought in the Vietnam war. But he says when they returned home, they weren’t welcomed.

But this time was different. For the first time in his life, Steve got appreciation and gratitude for his service.
