SAN FRANCISCO (KRON) — San Francisco is hosting some of the best tennis players in the world for the Laver Cup, happening at the Chase Center this weekend.

The world's No.1 ranked men’s tennis player Carlos Alcaraz was spotted doing some local sightseeing Tuesday. Alcaraz fittingly toured Alcatraz Island.

“Our own Ranger Siena had the honor of showing around professional tennis player, Carlos Alcaraz, on Alcatraz,” the National Park Service wrote on social media.

While the history of Alcatraz’s softball field is well documented, military officers also played tennis on the island in the 1880s, according to the National Parks Service.

“Alcaraz’s friends and family explored behind-the-scenes areas of the island, learning some deep-cut tennis history along the way,” NPS said.
