PASCO COUNTY, Fla., (WFLA) — A well-traveled road in Pasco County is closed due to a depression.

Officials said the hole opened up around 6 a.m. Thursday.

The hole is located on Clock Tower Parkway, at the intersection of Majestic Boulevard in Bayonet Point, off State Road 52.

When first glancing at the hole, it does not look very big from the surface, but officials said it is around 25 feet wide and 5 feet deep.

The area is now fenced off with road closed signs and barricades.

"It can grow bigger," said Andrew Fossa, emergency management director for Pasco County. "It can grow bigger and deeper. Mother Nature takes its own course."

County officials said the reason for the depression is the weather changing from a rainy season into a dry one.
