PORTLAND, Ore. — An Oregon Air National Guard jet used its tail hook to catch an emergency cable while landing at Portland International Airport on Wednesday morning. An emergency landing was required after the pilot reported a landing gear problem.
The F-15C Eagle was returning from a training flight over the Pacific Ocean when the pilot reported the issue. The jet touched down safely around 10:35 a.m., using a safety cable on the runway that helps stop planes in emergencies. Only one pilot was on board, and no one was hurt, according to the 142nd Wing.
