MORGANTOWN, W.Va. (WBOY) — The Mountain State Conference on Disabilities began on Thursday at the Marriott Waterfront Hotel in Morgantown, featuring panels and seminars on topics such as "ethical advocacy in social work” and “using behavioral skills training to teach de-escalation routines to young children.”

The event is organized by the WVU Center for Excellence in Disabilities with the goal of bringing together individuals with disabilities, their families, caregivers and other stakeholders to share their experiences and how they think the quality of life for people with disabilities can be improved.

Dr. Amy Burt who coordinated the conference through the Center of Excellence in Disabilities, said the conference is a platform for different stakeholders.
