Pontiac — Oakland County will have a new budget Oct. 1, one that funds county employee raises, affordable housing and expands capacity of emergency shelter in winter after county commissioners unanimously approved the plan Thursday night.
The budget for Fiscal Year 2025-26 is just over $1.17 billion, according to County Executive Dave Coulter's office. It's slightly larger than the $1.08 billion proposed by Coulter on July 17, which closely mirrored the amount of the current budget.
Budget allocations include:
--Nearly $500,000 to fund the county's human trafficking task force
--Continued funding of the Oakland Together Housing Trust Fund
--Added funds for weekly testing of "active" county beaches with designated swim areas from about 100 beaches per week to 150 weekly next season
