WEATHERFORD, Texas — The Weatherford Police Department is mourning the loss of Officer Eric Warren, who died Thursday, following a battle with cancer.

Warren, described by colleagues as a friend, brother, and mentor, spent more than three decades in law enforcement and more than 24 years with Weatherford PD. He was honored Thursday with an escort as agencies from across Parker County joined in returning him home.

“He was not only a protector of our community but a teacher, a role model, and a true brother in blue,” the department wrote in a statement.

Warren began his career as a dispatcher with the Parker County Sheriff’s Office before serving as a deputy for more than five years. He later joined the Weatherford Police Department, where he found his place in the Motorcycle Unit, create
