BESSEMER, Ala. ( WBRC ) - Opposition continues to grow for the proposed massive new data center in Bessemer .
Jefferson County Commission President Jimmie Stephens tells WBRC that many of the residents in the area are against the project.
Even though he doesn’t have a vote on it, Stephens opposes it too and said it could have a big impact on another major project.
Earlier this week, the Bessemer Planning and Zoning committee voted this week to move the proposal forward to the full city council for a vote. The data center is being planned for the Rock Mountain Lake Road area.
Many people voiced their concerns to city leaders about the plans. They say the data center could have impacts on the environment, noise, pollution, and on home values.
Commissioner Stephens said the sou
