SHELBY COUNTY, Ala. ( WBRC ) - A woman has been accused of stealing nearly $70,000 from an elderly victim in Shelby County.

Investigators said Crystal Niece has been charged with financial exploitation of the elderly and theft of property.

According to court documents, Niece was initially hired as a housekeeper for the victim, then offered to take care of the victim’s finances before she started taking money from the victim.

Niece worked for the victim for years. She is accused of taking money from them during the last year or so.
