Grammy Award-winning singer Brett James , 57, has tragically died in a plane crash. ‌

The acclaimed songwriter , known for his collaborations with stars such as Carrie Underwood, Rascal Flatts and Bon Jovi, was one of three people aboard an aircraft that crashed into a field in North Carolina. ‌

Brett's notable achievements include winning a Grammy Award in 2007 for Carrie Underwood' s hit track 'Jesus Take The Wheel'. The ill-fated Cirrus SR22T aircraft, registered to Brett, had taken off from Nashville, Tennessee before crashing in Macon County around 3pm local time on Thursday. ‌
