A Grammy Award winning singer has tragically died in a plane crash. Brett James, 57, has been confirmed as one of three people killed when the small aircraft they were on collided with a field in North Carolina, US.

The plane which crashed has been identified as a Cirrus SR22T aircraft registered in Brett's name. Flight information would indicate it took off from Nashville Tennessee, before crashing in Macon County at around 3pm on Thursday, September 18.

As to why the plane went down is not yet known, but the National Transportation Safety Board is now expected to launch an investigation is expected to launch an investigation into the matter, the Mirror reported.
