EL CENTRO – The El Centro City Council held a public hearing, where they approved the first reading of an amendment to the mobile vending regulation on Tuesday, September 16, where Community Development Director, Angel Hernandez, presented the proposed ordinance amendments to address mobile food facilities, sidewalk and park vending, and mobile vending on private property concerns and discrepancies.
The previous requirements for mobile vendors operating on sidewalks and city parks was unclear and somewhat restrictive, according to Hernandez.
“The individuals that we’ve spoken to, this is their livelihood. This is how they make their living, and I don’t want our ordinance as a city to be more restrictive or complicated for them not to be able to make their money,” said Councilmember Claud
