(Victoria) — The Seguin Matadors kick off their District 13-5A schedule tonight on the road at Victoria East.

The Mats are 2-1 heading into district. After an opening loss to Alamo Heights, the Mats came back to win games over Corpus Christi Miller and Brazoswood.

Last week’s 34-27 win over Brazoswood included a key drive late in the first half that produced an important touchdown. The Matadors drove 74 yards in only 18 seconds to reach the end zone. Receivers Ayden Avila and Daniel Pinon caught long passes from quarterback Corey Dailey to set the Mats up at the two-yard line with two seconds left. Dailey would take the ball over the goal line on the half’s final play.
