The Seton Catholic Cougars’ offense scored four touchdowns in a five-minute span of the first quarter, taking control on the way to a 52-6 victory over the visiting Castle Rock Rockets on Friday.
Xavier Crank capped Seton’s first possession with a 17-yard TD run. That was followed quickly by a 43-yard scoring pass from Kolten Gesser to Graham Dumas; a 44-yard scoring run by Aqeel Bauman; and a 5-yard TD from Bauman as the Cougars (2-1) won their 1A Trico League opener.
Seton finished the first quarter with 185 yards on 14 plays.
Castle Rock cut into the margin with a 7-yard touchdown pass from Brody Burgoyne to Aiden Mead that provided the only points of the second quarter. But Seton pulled away with three third-quarter scores – including a 25-yard interception return by Jaxen Crabtree.
