A student had to have her fingers and both legs amputated when a bout of 'freshers' flu' turned out to be deadly meningitis.
Ketia Moponda got a cough within eight days of arriving at De Montfort University in Leicester in September 2024.
The 19-year-old initially believed to be freshers' flu - a mild cold-like illness many students get in their first few weeks - but later told her best friend she felt like she was 'going to die'.
