NORTH CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCSC) - Several inmates of the Al Cannon Detention Center spent half of their night under medical observation because smoking an unknown drug made them sick.
A report states that, just before 11 p.m. Thursday, a Charleston County deputy was called to the jail as staff had found contraband with inmates.
The deputy was presented with what they say looked like a tube made of toilet paper that was burnt on one end and was filled with “some kind of substance.” There was also a small bag of orange powder inside.
Jail staff reported that they found half a dozen inmates vomiting inside their cells. They searched and found the tube and the bag.
The six inmates were then taken to the medical office to undergo a four-hour observation.
