Falkirk Council is being urged to reject "all forms of hate and discrimination in our communities and across our services" in a motion that will be debated at a meeting in October. ‌

Independent councillor Laura Murtagh says she is making the call in response to continuing protests outside the Cladhan Hotel, Falkirk , which has been used to house asylum seekers over the past four years. ‌

Cllr Murtagh has joined the counter-protests organised by Stand Up To Racism and says she has been appalled by the threats and abuse from some of the anti-refugee demonstrators on the other side. ‌
