VANDERBURGH COUNTY, Ind. (WEVV) — Deputies are investigating a deadly crash that happened around 8:30 a.m. Friday at the intersection of the Lloyd Expressway and McDowell Road in Vanderburgh County.

The crash involved a semi tractor-trailer and an SUV. The SUV's driver suffered life-threatening injuries and was later pronounced dead at a local hospital.

The driver of the semi tractor-trailer was uninjured and is cooperating with deputies. As per Indiana law, he underwent a chemical test and evaluation by a drug recognition expert.

A crash reconstructionist is involved, and the investigation is ongoing. The roadway is closed, with traffic being diverted.

The Vanderburgh County Coroner’s Office will release the deceased's name after notifying family members.
