EVANSVILLE, Ind. (WEVV) — An Evansville woman who was arrested for shoplifting steaks tried to bribe her way out of trouble by offering an officer money, according to police.
EPD officers say they responded to investigate a theft report at the Schnucks on Washington Avenue on Thursday.
An Asset Protection employee said 44-year-old Anitra Patterson had scanned other groceries at self checkout, but failed to scan $128 worth of T-Bone steaks before leaving the store. Asset Protection was able to convince Patterson to come back inside and talk.
Officers say they were shown security camera footage of Patterson taking the steaks from the store.
After placing Patterson in handcuffs and reading her rights, police say she admitted to stealing the steaks.
