A New Orleans lawyer has been tapped for a position in President Donald Trump's administration.

Peter Thomson has been appointed as the inspector general for the CIA after being nominated by Trump in May and receiving approval from the Senate Select Committee on Intelligence. Advertisement

Thomson will be responsible for overseeing the inspector general office's audits, inspections, and investigations to eliminate fraud and waste within the CIA.

His prior experience includes 23 years as an assistant district attorney with the U.S. Justice Department and serving as a board member of the Metropolitan Crime Commission.
