It's just a note at the end of the play-by-play in the Miami Dolphins' loss on Thursday to the Buffalo Bills: "[Malik] Washington right end to BUF 38 for 14 yards."
Seems innocuous, right? But it turns out it's not. Because NFL bettors are furious that Washington's yardage wasn't of the receiving variety. Why? Because it affects their parlays and bets on Washington.
Take a look at the play in question: Tua Tagovailoa hits Washington with a pass... but it's behind the line of scrimmage. It might even be a lateral, technically. Is this a pass or a run? Hmm. Seems like the NFL is saying the latter and that ruined the night for some bettors.
Sorry, folks.
