Who hasn’t experienced that delightful feeling, on closing a novel or biography , of having opened the door to a new world? The characters take up residence in our mental universe, accompanying us, pursuing their own lives, taking other paths, sometimes those we would have taken in their place, as we turn the pages. And without even realizing it, we begin to “make a movie” for ourselves. It is this desire that we wish to celebrate by launching our first literary prize, which aims to encourage, indeed celebrate, the transition from the written word to the screen : the Vanity Fair Award.
