According to PHD, cyanobacteria, also known as a harmful algal bloom, was detected in recent water sampling and a public health advisory has been issued.
PHD warns that HABs can cause rashes, diarrhea, and, in extreme cases, liver and nervous system issues.
The district is warning people should wash with fresh water if they come in contact with the cyanobacteria while in the water. The district also warns the bacteria cannot be boiled or filtered out, so do not drink where the water may be contaminated.
