WASHINGTON — The U.S. House of Representatives passed a resolution Friday honoring the memory of conservative activist Charlie Kirk and Arizona's congressional members were present to signal their support for the measure.

A total of 310 members of Congress voted in favor of the resolution, which described Kirk as a "fierce defender of the American founding and its timeless principles of life, liberty, limited government, and individual responsibility."

But 58 Democrats voted against the resolution and another 38 voted as "present." While condemning political violence, some Democrats said they couldn't support the resolution because of rhetoric and views expressed by Kirk.
