SHREVEPORT, La. — A local official plans to push for a change in state law to crack down on speeders.

Currently, Louisiana only allows speed cameras in school zones. The law went into effect in August.

But Caddo Parish Commissioner Ken Epperson says that's not enough.

Epperson said he will be an advocate at the next legislative session to revamp that law.

Epperson shared video at Thursday's Caddo Commission meeting showing a driver speeding and losing control on Calderwood and Greenwood Road in Shreveport. This is the fourth time this has happened.

Epperson says adding speed enforcement cameras could address a high volume of citizen complaints. He also said the cameras could serve a dual purpose in helping solve crimes.
