Clermont, Ky. —

Bernheim Forest and Arboretum is celebrating our insect friends as BugFest returns this Saturday from 11 a.m. until 3 p.m.

The annual event will feature opportunities to get close to some insect species, both native and foreign.

The event was created, in part, by Wren Smith, who has worked for Bernheim for the last 25 years. According to her, this is an excellent way for folks to learn about our creepy, crawly, but important insect friends.

"People don't understand, and they fear what they don't understand," Smith said. "So, if you just start paying attention, and see the vital roles they play."

The event will feature a Bug Costume Parade, expert speakers, and some live music.

Bernheim Forest is nearing completion of its new two-story accessible treehouse.
