GREENSBORO, N.C. — Two Guilford County Schools went into a brief lockdown on Friday afternoon after reports of shots fired near the intersection of East Cone Boulevard and North Elm Street.

Guilford County Schools confirmed that the lockdown at Page High School and Cone Elementary School has been lifted. Greensboro Police said the shots were fired just before 3 p.m. and that officers are currently on scene investigating.

Guilford County Schools said a stray bullet struck the mirror of a bus serving Doris Henderson Newcomers.

According to police, preliminary reports indicate that the incident started near the Roses at 1421 E. Cone Boulevard.
