WASHINGTON — D.C.’s famous H Street Festival is returning this weekend for its 20th anniversary.
The H Street corridor will be closed to traffic from 3rd Street to Florida Avenue, NE, between 4 a.m. and 11 p.m.
The 15 staging areas will feature activities such as music, dance, youth-based performances, children’s programs, fashion, heritage arts, and poetry.
Organizers say what began with 500 people participating 19 years ago has ballooned to include 150,000 participants. They also say the event has contributed to bringing business into the neighborhood.
They say the event has reduced the commercial building vacancy rate from 75 percent to under 5 percent.
