EUFAULA, Ala. (WTVM) - A Life Flight medical helicopter will soon be stationed in Eufaula. City officials say they have been trying to get a medical helicopter to the area for several years, and were finally chosen to be an area to house an air-borne medical team.
“In these critical situations, time is very important,” said Mayor Jack Tibbs.
A matter of seconds can be the difference between life and death. Life flight helicopters are used for that very reason, to get people in need of critical care to hospitals quicker. Eufaula is about 50 miles from the closest high level hospitals in Dothan, Columbus and Montgomery. Mayor Jack Tibbs says the closest life flight in their area, is almost an hour away.
