TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WCTV) - The Florida A&M University Board of Trustees elected a new chair and vice chair.

The board unanimously elected Deveron Gibbons, J.D., as chair. He succeeds Kristin Harper, who served as chair for two years.

Gibbons said it’s an honor to serve the board.

“I look forward to working with the entire board to ensure that we serve our students and help them meet and succeed their academic goals,” Gibbons said.

He earned his master’s degree in business administration and juris doctorate from FAMU. Gibbons is a former Tallahassee lobbyist and is a longtime community activisit. He also currently serves on the boards of several local organizations.

Another FAMU alum was elected in Thursday’s board meeting.
