BUFFALO, N.Y. — New York Attorney General Letitia James secured a court order preventing the Trump Administration from requiring states to turn over sensitive personal data of SNAP recipients.

The temporary restraining order aims to protect millions of people who rely on food assistance, including children and families.

"No one should have to fear that the assistance they rely on to put food on the table will be used against them by this administration," James said.

The legal action was joined by a coalition of 20 other state attorneys general and the state of Kentucky. The court order temporarily halts the administration’s effort to access personal information, ensuring that SNAP recipients’ data remains confidential while the lawsuit proceeds.
