STRUTHERS Ahead of the home game for Struthers City Schools on Friday, alumni of a student-run radio station at the school were honored for their part in the station.

Pete Pirone, Superintendent of Struthers City Schools, met with 21 News at the ceremony, which marks the beginning of a weekend-long celebration of the WKTL station reaching its 60th anniversary.

One member of the WKTL alumni included in the recognition ceremony was Bob "Bubba" Meluch, a 21 News photographer.

WKTL got its start in 1965, and Pirone says that this radio station has made an impact on the student community.

"I think there have been a lot of people that have gone on into broadcasting over the years... The pride in the radio station for the Mahoning Valley to have WKTL 90.7 still in our area is important," sa
