Andress' smooth march to a 2-0 District 1-5A Division I record hit a snag when, leading rivals Chapin 40-7 with 2:15 left in the third quarter, the game was delayed by lightning.

The delay occurred at 8:45 after a lightning strike was recorded within 10 miles of Sepkowitz Stadium and a minimum 30-minute delay was mandated. Players and officials took the field at 9:25 for warmups, and almost immediately another delay was called.

That was the first thing that went wrong for Andress on a dominating night, as the Eagles charged to a 33-7 halftime lead when it scored on all five first-half possessions.
