FLOYD COUNTY, Ind. (WAVE) - In late August, a group of six first responders in Southern Indiana helped a woman deliver a baby in her house. On Friday, they received a distinct honor and got to reunite with that baby and her family.

About three weeks ago, Kayla Oldham woke up around 5 a.m., realizing she was in labor.

“I woke Nate up and I was like, ‘you need to call 911,’ because we aren’t gonna make it to the hospital,” said Oldham.

Her husband, Nate Hammitt, called 911, and Nick Fulkerson, a member of the Floyd County Sheriff’s Department, was the first on scene.

He found the couple in the bathroom.

“When I walked in and started talking with mom and dad, it was very apparent that the baby was coming,” said Fulkerson. “The thought of delivering a baby in a bathroom by myself was a li
