The scene at Clear Creek Amana High School on Sept. 19 was reminiscent of the last four meetings between the Clippers and North Scott.

CCA endured the sting of defeat, while the Lancers came out on top in Week 4 of the Iowa high school football season.

The 2025 iteration of the matchup saw the Clippers drop a 33-30 heartbreaker to the Lancers in overtime.

“Last year, at this same time, these guys destroyed us; it wasn’t even a football game,” said CCA coach Lance Pedersen. “This year, we made some huge strides. We’re not into playing games close, we want to win them, but our guys were resilient. Things got tough for us at times, our guys kept bouncing back, kept doing things well and I was really proud of them. We fought to the end.”
