OKLAHOMA CITY — In fiery letters, Republican political rivals Gov. Kevin Stitt and Attorney General Gentner Drummond have questioned each other’s ethics while squabbling over the future of a lawsuit Stitt repeatedly filed and Drummond repeatedly dismissed.

The letters were included in a court filing in the lawsuit, which centers on Stitt’s allegations that Florida-based ClassWallet failed to prevent the misspending of about $1.7 million in federal education funds from a COVID-19 stimulus program. The Oklahoma Office of Management and Enterprise Services, at the behest of Stitt, is now seeking to disqualify Drummond from the lawsuit.

“This isn’t a political dispute. It’s a matter of legal ethics,” Stitt said in a Sept. 3 letter to Drummond.
