HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) - An 87-year-old woman who pleaded guilty to setting fire to a house she was being evicted from won’t be sent to prison.

On Friday, a judge granted Beverly Shimabukuro a four-year deferral of her arson plea.

She admitted she started the fire in her Liliha rental last February.

No injuries were reported, but police said the fire caused roughly $125,000 in damage.

The judge said he believed the former Pagoda restaurant waitress would not likely commit another crime.

She now lives with her family in Washington state.
