EL MONTE — The El Monte football team won its first two games and dropped the next two. It was hoping to get back on track in the Mission Valley Legue opener against Arroyo on Friday and did exactly that.
Dynamic performances from senior quarterback Alex Aleman, who threw four touchdown passes and senior receiver Noah Munoz, who caught three TDs, led the way along with its stout defense in a convincing 41-7 victory over the Knights.
“That was my fault, those two losses,” El Monte coach Hector Spathias said. “I wasn’t on the coaches enough or players enough. We got a little bit complacent. We let them know that we’re better than [how] we played the last two weeks.”
