Cumbernauld MSP Jamie Hepburn has stepped down from the Scottish Government following accusations that he "aggressively" grabbed a Conservative MSP during a heated exchange about seagulls in the Holyrood chamber.
Mr Hepburn submitted his resignation letter to John Swinney on Friday (September 19), just hours after Douglas Ross lodged an official complaint against him. The Cumbernauld and Kilsyth MSP, who served as minister for parliamentary business, chose to resign rather than face a probe into potential breaches of the ministerial code following this week's incident.
