Descendants of World War II veterans who inspired the book and subsequent HBO miniseries “Band of Brothers” visited Fayetteville and Fort Bragg on Sept. 18-19 for the group’s 79th reunion.

The veterans, who served with the 506th Parachute Infantry Regiment, 101st Airborne Division’s Easy Company started the reunions after the war in 1946, and family members decided to carry on the tradition since 2012, as the veterans were aging, said Chris Langlois, whose grandfather Eugene “Doc” Roe, was a medic for the unit.
