WICKSBURG – Wicksburg did a little bit of everything in putting away Houston Academy 36-17 on Friday night.
The Panthers got two touchdowns off passes – including one on the first play from scrimmage – added two rushing scores, a safety and an interception return for a touchdown during the home victory.
On top of that, the Wicksburg defense played havoc in the Houston Academy backfield at times with big sacks.
The solid win improved Wicksburg to 3-2 overall and 2-1 in Class 3A, Region 2 play, while Houston Academy is also 3-2 overall, but fell to 1-2 in the region.
Getting some revenge
Before Friday, Houston Academy had won three straight over Wicksburg, including taking a 66-22 win a year ago.
