It doesn’t take much looking to see that Hamilton is on the cusp of a commercial revitalization rooted in art and culture.

In the heart of downtown, there’s what Allan Reid, head of the Juno Awards, calls Hamilton’s “new jewel”: a revamped and rebranded arena, set to debut in November, that promises to host some of the biggest names in show business.

“TD Coliseum is going to change the game,” Reid said Thursday at the third annual Hamilton Tourism Summit. “It’s a music-first arena and that’s usually not the case.”

Just down the road, near King and Bay streets, is among the country’s foremost public art institutions, with a permanent collection of more than 10,000 works — many of them rare Indigenous and international holdings you won’t find anywhere else.
