SPRINGFIELD, Ill. (WLS) -- Former Illinois Gov. Jim Edgar will be laid to rest on Saturday.

Visitors, including Edgar's family, paid their respects as he lay in state at the Illinois Capitol Building .

The former governor served two terms in the 1990s.

Edgar died last weekend at the age of 79 after a battle with pancreatic cancer.

His memorial service was held at 11 a.m. Saturday at Central Baptist Church in Springfield.
