STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. — Choosing a public high school in New York City is not an easy decision to make — and a new ranking by U.S. News & World Report aims to help by providing an unbiased look at how well schools serve their students.
The U.S. News & World Report released its 2025-2026 rankings for the top public high schools in the country, and across states and districts.
The top-ranked schools have a high rate of students who scored above expectations in math, science, and reading state assessments, passed an array of college-level exams, and graduated in four years.
In total, more than 18,000 elementary schools were ranked nationwide. The rankings include 533 public high schools in New York City.
