Leaders with Danville Public Schools are working to nudge down classroom sizes, especially at the high school level.
While the averages fall below state requirements overall in all grades, there are some that fall outside of the goal.
Jo Ellen Hylton, chief of schools for the local system, provided the Danville School Board with an update on classroom figures at Thursday night’s meeting.
George Washington High School has some larger numbers in individual classes, even though the averages appear lower.
”We actually have some history classes that are now at 35,” Hylton said, highlighting numbers even higher than a chart in her presentation. The average history class size is 21
.”We have an English that is at 26,” she explained. The average is 20.
