People with disabilities who visit the Clark County Courthouse face multiple barriers. Most of the building’s doors aren’t motorized, the only entrance ramp is at the back of the building and access to customer service counters is limited.

But now those barriers are being addressed thanks to a first-of-its-kind statewide study that looked at physical deficiencies and access to court services and programs.

The Washington State Supreme Court Disability Justice Task Force presented its study Sept. 10. The study was conducted over seven months to assess disparities in access for those with disabilities at six courthouses, including the Clark County Courthouse, 1200 Franklin St., Vancouver.
